In preparation for the Sarajevo Business Forum 2017, a briefing was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs BiH for representatives of the diplomatic corps

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina held a briefing for representatives of the diplomatic corps on the 21st of March 2017. The goal was to inform the corps on relevant issues related to the organization of the “Sarajevo Business Forum 2017” (SBF 2017) which will be held on the 22nd and 23rd of May in Sarajevo. The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina funded the important event while Bosna Bank International (BBI), in collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank Group, organized the event with the full support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC).

Attendees included representatives of the diplomatic corps, who among them were ambassadors and heads of international organizations. The public was addressed by the Assistant Minister for Bilateral Affairs, Amer Kapetanovic, and managing director of BBI Bank, Amer Bukvic.  The Forum is the largest and most important investment conference in the region that has been successfully implemented for the past seven years.  The main goal is to attract foreign investors to the Southeastern European region through the presentation of investment potential, which include significant natural resources, skilled labor workers and the prospect of European integration.

At this year’s eight annual Sarajevo Business Forum, expected participants include Heads of State and Government, Ministers, CEOs of global companies, investment fund managers, heads of regional investment promotion agencies, heads of international organizations, scientists, and media representatives. 1.600 participants from over 30 countries are expected to participate at this year’s Forum along with 350 representatives of local and foreign media.

Mr. Kapetanovic, on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Igor Crnadak, welcomed the attendees and noted that for the second year in a row, the Ministry has taken on the task of assisting with the organization of SBF and has also taken on a series of activities to insure the success of this year’s Forum. A cooperation between the Ministry and representatives of BBI was also created in order to cover various aspects of the organization of the Forum. Mr. Kapetanovic informed attendees about the current status of the Forum and highlighted the expectations of the diplomatic corps with regards to informing officials, businesses and media in their respected countries. 

Assistant Minister Kapetanovic said that SBF is an important platform that enables the development of local economies throughout the region along with the establishment of cooperation between local businesses and global companies and investors. He also noted that the Forum will be held at a time when BiH and the region are cooperating on strategic infrastructure projects that have been initiated through the new approach of the EU to the Western Balkans (Connectivity Agenda.)

Guests were also addressed by the managing Director of BBI, Amer Bukvic, who pointed out that SBF is an outstanding example of private-public partnership and that it is a regional economic event that is more successful each and every year. He informed the public about the planned agenda, expectations and goals of this year's Sarajevo Business Forum.
